parimala means fragrance

This is named for a dear friend's daughter, Parimala. The inspiration for this beautiful colorway is from a picture of Parimala that my friend used to display. Perhaps I can talk her into letting me post the picture...
for now, this is a beautiful blend of browns, yellows, natural, oranges and burgundy, kettledyed and heat set with permanent acid dyes on purewool merino.

raz-berry riot and the whole stocking stash

this is my newest colorway, raz-berry riot. this is a solid variegated colorway. this basically means that it is dyed one color but in shades.
this is the entirety of what is available for purchase at the moment. it will be the premiers for the new Hyena Cart that I am in the process of setting up. I will post the website and stocking information as soon as i have it. Keep your eyes out though, because this isn't all i will have. New colorways cooking in the pot as we speak!

all fixed

all the pictures should be restored and the blog should be back to normal. thanks for you patience!

another new colorway

i haven't found the right name for this. it didn't come out exactly the way i wanted it. the oranges are a little muddled and the black didn't come out a true black despite the photos.

some new yarn and knit up examples

this is my new almost spring colorway on peruvian. beautiful blends of blue, green, yellow and a hint of spring bloom purple. hand dyed in small repetitions to help avoid pooling.

i decided to name this one strawberry wine. this is the one from below reskeined and knit up.

almost finally done

these are the bee longies that i've been working as a custom. they are really coming together now that i've added some of the embellishments. i've decided to keep that head color of the bee and included a flower in the same color to pull it together. the flower also helps add a little "girly-ness" to it, which i thought for a while it might be lacking.
these still need to be washed and blocked and the ends need to be woven in. the line from the bee to the flower is still incomplete at the time of the picture and the flower still needs to be secured.

capris for elliot

I meant to post this forever ago. While i could just add it to the side customs list, i wanted to put it here because i just love this yarn and love these shorties. The yarn was dyed by Lacy at JellyBean on Hyena Cart. This is dyed on 3 ply Purewool Merino with matching brown vareigated trim. They are a size medium for my daughter who is just over 3 months now. I made the inseam a wee bit longer so she could grow into them so they sit at almost ankle length now, but should be a nice capri length by spring.

The waistband is a special project of mine. I made a button hole and knit it straight to avoid the stretching that takes places when you pull these over cloth diapers. These were still in need of a button at the time these pictures were taken.

bee longies

These are inspired by a dish that i got while living in seattle. its covered in bees in colors that are mute and natural. these are the beginings of these longies. the bee isn't done yet and i'm not sure i'm keeping the head part that color. i was just experimenting with color to help it pop more. i still need to color in the second set of wings and the embroidery that will go around the legs. the bee was harder then i expected. this was my third try at getting something that didn't look silly. i didn't want to do straight duplicate stitch so this is a mix media, if you will, version utilizing straight stitch and chain stitching.

naming my blog

i'm not in love with the name of my blog or the name of my soon to be hyena cart. i need some suggestions as my creativity is not best utililized in this department.
suggestions? i'm thinking "pop tot knits" or maybe just "elliot".

washed, blocked and on their way to a new home

These turned out so wonderful. The finished product is beyond lovely. Apple tree longies. Each apple was embellished on using duplicate stitch. Made from 100% wool...peruvian and merino. Size medium. Customer wanted a bit longer inseam: 9"

and a little quick instant gratification knit. a hat for my dear friend's daughter to match the pants i made her. this yarn was also dyed up by yours truly.
